Our venue is relaxed, spacious, bright and accessible with small classes passionate, skilled & friendly tutors. We have free parking right outside, plenty of drinks & even a shop/post office next door. Whether you’re an experienced crafter trying something new or have never done anything like this before we are the place for you. Come on your own, bring a friend, colleague or even the whole family, anything goes and everyone is welcome.

Fused Glass Workshops
Fused Glass has been one of the most popular classes at The Makers’ House since we opened, there is something about the colour and the texture of glass that makes it so lovely to work with! As well as our popular Suncatcher Classes we offer a range of new classes including bigger pieces, more colours and more techniques. Jaime teaches many of the classes and is always open to your ideas and suggestions and will ensure you create a piece you will be proud of.

Sewing, Quilting & Dressmaking
Its never too late, or early, to learn how to use a sewing machine! We offer small group and 121 sessions for adults & children to help over come fears of your sewing machine, & to understand what all those dials, levers and switches do!
Once you have mastered the basics there are many different workshops you can enjoy - free motion embroidery & applique with Jaime, Dressmaking with Liz and Quilting with Tom are all regular sessions and we can also offer 121 sessions. Whatever you are looking for, we can help.

Silversmithing
Silver has become such a popular class at The Makers’ we have recently installed our own metal working bench to make your experience even better! Jess offers a wide range of classes, as well as private group sessions for parties and hen dos. From rings, to earrings and bangles, learn a whole range of techniques from hammering, sawing, soldering and polishing, you really can create something extra special in these classes!

Silver Clay Jewellery
Silver Clay is a magical material to work with - made up of ground down recycled silver mixed with a binder, it has it the soft and malleable properties of clay which can be textured, embossed, moulded and shaped in any way you choose. Once shaped, the binder is burned off using a blowtorch or kiln leaving a solid, fine silver piece made by you! It really is magic, it is real silver and it so versatile the opportunities are endless which keeps people coming back again and again!

Crepe Paper Flowers
Ideal for home decoration, for weddings, for gifts or just for fun, crepe paper flowers are beautifully delicate yet very robust and better still they need NO looking after!! This affordable and very addictive craft is a great way to relax and switch off and easy when you know how!
Wendy from the Paper Flower Company has been creating these stunning flowers for years and loves the challenges her students set for new flowers!
No experience needed for this class, Wendy talks you through every step of the way. Everything you need is provided and a relaxing time guaranteed.

Pyrography
Come and discover the art of using heat to burn designs into wood - it is that simple! Karen from Misty Ceramics will introduce you to the very best tools which enable you to create intricate and detail designs to be proud of.
No art skills needed for this class so don’t think you can’t, because you can!
Karen joins us every month so whether its your first time or your 10th, we can’t wait to welcome you!

There are few classes as creative or mindful as the beautiful art of calligraphy. It doesn’t matter how neat your handwriting is for this class so don’t let that put you off!!

Crochet, Arm Knitting & Knitting
We love all things woolly here at The Makers’ House, so much so we have one evening a month dedicated to it!
Whether you are looking to learn how to knit or crochet, would like to make your own arm knitted blanket or would just like to find a place to come and make your stitches with a cuppa and good company, this is the night for you!

Julia Watts hosts a number of different stamping & colour workshops and socials here at The Makers’ House. Whether you are looking to develop your card making, learn new colour and stamping techniques or to meet with like minded crafters, Julia has the session for you.

Alcohol Inks
The magical medium that is alcohol ink is so much fun and produces incredible results, especially with the best tutors! We love working with Jo & Gem from By Jo Crafts who bring colour and chaos to The Makers!
We have hosted classes decorating baubles and bowls, and creating stunning floral and abstract pictures and we are always excited when these classes come around.

Steph from Leaping Frog Crafts joined usin 2024 and had brought the delicacy and beauty of beading to The Makers.
Dragonflies, bees, flowers, bracelets, the opportunities are endless and we are looking forward to many more to come!

NEW! Macrame Plant Hangings with Driftwood & Twine
Learn to make this on-trend macramé wall hanging. I've designed it as a kind of sampler, so that over the course of the three-hour workshop you'll learn and practice the five basic macramé knots that are the gateway to exploring this mindful craft and creating your own wonderful pieces at home. The class is for beginners and refreshers or improvers alike and, while full instruction will be given, there will be scope for you to freestyle a little if you're feeling confident. The workshop will be taking place at The Makers' House in Fareham. Please note, the minimum age for this workshop is 16.

Sew Simple - Cushions with Liz
Join Liz for this introduction to sewing cushions class and create your own cushion covers and learn how to insert a zip or create a buttonhole, its up to you! Basic machining skills are required - if you confidently can thread a machine, you can do this! All materials included but you are welcome to bring along your own fabric if you would like to.

Intro to Hand Sewing (Felt Bags) Children age 8+
An introduction to hand sewing basics, creating a decorated felt bag to take home. Suitable for children aged 8+ years who are keen to learn new skills.
Jewellery Club with Jess
A chance to develop your skills and create your own work at this monthly jewellery club - if you are familiar with the basics this is a great way to practise independently but with the support of Jess for tips, techniques and support.

Fused Glass Large Beach Hut Scenes
Try your hand at glass cutting as you design and create your own beach huts scene - with all the help and support you need!
Once completed your glass tile will be fired and will usually be ready for collection from The Makers' House within 14 days.
How to use a Sewing Machine - Children's Session (12+)
A crash course introducing sewing machine basics. Children will learn all they need to master simple machine sewing. This session is for slightly older children aged 12+ years who are keen to learn new skills.
No machine needed for this course, you are welcome to use one of ours. If you are looking to buy a machine please talk to us first as we can help!

Resin Flowers Workshop
A new class to The Makers’ House, working with Inion Arts - create stunning flowers using a special dipping resin which dries within minutes and is ever lasting and lovely!
Suitable for all ages.

Keum Boo Pendants or Earrings with Jess
Keum Boo is the Korean technique of adding gold accents to your pieces using 24ct gold leaf. First of all you will explore different textures using a range of materials, texture plates and rolling mill techniques to design your chosen piece of jewellery. You will then be shown the process of depleting silver before fusing gold leaf to create a permanent bond to your silver jewellery.

Yarn Club at The Makers House - knitting, crochet and all things woolly!

4 week Coastal Silver Course with Jess
This course is now SOLD OUT but you can sign up for the waiting list on Jess’s website!
During this 4 week long course, you will learn the fun skills of melting and hammering scrap silver to make personalised silver pebbles, adding jump rings to make charms.
You will then go on to make a beautiful silver wave ring to size using wire. Learning ring sizing skills, how to anneal and shape wire, as well as soldering and texturing.
The final two weeks are your chance to make a pendant, ring or earrings using sea glass. You will make a bezel setting from start to finish and set your sea glass. If you finish early, you can make another piece or revisit making rings and pebbles.
Materials are included to make your pebble charms, one wave ring and a setting to make either a ring, pendant or earrings for a piece of sea glass up to 2cm. If you would like to set a piece bigger than that, please contact me prior to the class to arrange additional silver. You can bring along your own piece of glass or choose from my collection. Please note, not all shapes of glass are suitable to be set but you will be advised on this during the class - You can always e-mail me before the class if you have any questions!

Italic Principles 4 week Course with Lettering by the Sea
In this four week course we will learn one of the most beautiful traditional scripts there is. Using a broad edge nib, Bridgette will teach you how to form an Italic lower-case alphabet.
As a final project you will write a short verse on a pastel background.
Unlike Modern Calligraphy, creating letters in Italic requires a measured and accurate approach. If you would like to understand the fundamental principles behind this script, join Bridgette on this four-week course and have fun while you practice.
A pen, broad edge nib and bottle of ink will be included in the cost of the workshop and handouts provided weekly

Silver Clay - Cubic Zirconia Stone Setting Pendants
Create a sparkly cubic zirconia and silver pendant in a fabulous 4hr silver clay jewellery workshop. You’ll learn how to texture, shape and set small cz stones into this magical clay before finally firing and polishing. You will be given enough clay to make one pendant or a small pair of drop earrings.
Please bring a drink and lunch or snack with you. Please also tie long hair back and wear filled in shoes for the workshop.

This is a complete beginners Silversmithing class, so no experience is needed. During the class I will teach you all about traditional silversmithing tools and how to use them correctly and safely.
These is a super fun class, melting silver to create balls, before hammering and stamping to create personalised charms. You can then add a jump ring to attach the charms to necklaces or bracelets. Perfect as gifts!
During the class you can make up to 4 pebble charms.
3 Week Mindful Embroidery Course (daytime)

Paper Flowers - Daisies!
Daisy Paper Flower Workshop
Join us on Saturday, 3rd May at 11:30 AM for a fabulous hands-on workshop, perfect for beginners! For ages 12+, we will be using hot glue guns.
Learn to craft a beautiful, lifelike daisy using glorious doublette crepe paper, a stunning material that brings flowers to life. I'll guide you step by step, so no experience is needed—just bring your creativity!

Beaded Dragonflies & Bees with Leaping Frog Crafts
Come and have a go at making these beautiful beaded dragonflies or bees. Learn how to use beads of various sizes and flexible wire to create stunning decorations, brooches, or small pendants to wear (the choice is yours!)
All materials and tuition will be provided, including instruction sheets, brooch backs, hanging ribbon, hair clips, or florist wire sticks should you wish to turn them into plant pot decorations. Guests can make as many as they like during the 2-hour session.
The course is suitable for beginners. Learners will be provided all tools, materials, examples and instruction sheets.
Intro to Quilting (Planning & Piecing)
Join us for this one day course to gain an insight into the art of Quilting. Learn how to measure, cut, put together and quilt a small "lap" size quilt top in a 100% cotton fabric.
For this class you will need: 4 fat quarters of 100% cotton fabric of contrasting design and 2 reels of matching Gutermann thread (we will have a limited range available to purchase on the day)

Silver Stacking Bangles with Jess
This is a complete beginners Silversmithing class, so no experience is needed. During the class I will teach you all about traditional silversmithing tools and how to use them correctly and safely. You will be working with thick silver wire, twisting, texturing and manipulating to create your own silver bangles. As well as soldering and texturing you will learn to form your bangles and finishing off with polishing techniques.
During the class you will make 2 silver bangles and one copper one to practice.

Calligraphy - Beginners Brush
Have you always wanted to try calligraphy but think your handwriting isn’t good enough? Worry no more, my fun and friendly workshop will banish all your concerns.
This brush lettering for beginners takes you through the basic strokes and steps to develop your lettering skills slowly and concisely. There will be plenty of time to practice and get some 1:1 help from your tutor. Modern calligraphy has the added bonus of being a script that does not have the same strict guidelines of more traditional calligraphy. You can develop your own style and enjoy the complete relaxation that calligraphy is known for.
We will explore some beautiful colour blending techniques and using a workbook that is yours to keep, you will have the opportunity to use templates to trace and copy giving you confidence to create your own stunning projects.
Finally you will learn how to create your own environmentally friendly wrapping paper gift tags and cards that can be used for all sorts of occasions.
All equipment and materials are included and you will receive a take away kit including your workbook and a brush pen.

Chunky Macrame Handbag Workshop with Driftwood & Twine
By popular request, I’m very pleased to offer my first handbag workshop. You’ll make an on-trend neutral macramé bag that’s perfect to pair with your spring and summer outfits. As bags are time-consuming to make, this is a long-form workshop, suitable for beginners and confident knotters alike. You’ll learn two of the foundation macramé knots, lark’s head and square knots, and the more advanced Chinese crown knot.
This workshop lasts around 5 hours and takes place at the lovely Makers’ House in Fareham. Materials are all included, along with a light snack to keep up your strength while you knot! We’ll begin seated but you can choose whether you wish to sit or stand for the rest of the workshop – or a mix of both. If you have any questions about accessibility please do get in touch. Places are limited to 8 on this workshop so that I can give everyone individual attention as needed and make sure you take home a piece of work that you’re proud of.

Silver & Sea Glass Setting - rings or pendants
During this class I will teach you how to use traditional Silversmithing tools correctly and safely to create a silver bezel cup to house a piece of sea glass. This can then be made into either a ring or pendant. There is opportunity to texture, stamp and add different polishing and finishing techniques to your piece, depending on how you design your unique piece of jewellery.
As there is a lot to get through in this particular class, I would advise that you have been to at least one of my beginners classes or similar before joining Sea Glass Setting. Having some experience using a piercing saw and blow torch to solder will help you make the most of the class and create a beautifully finished piece.
Materials are included to set a piece of glass up to 1.5cm in size. If you would like to set a piece bigger than that, please contact me prior to the class to arrange additional silver. You can bring along your own piece of glass or choose from my collection. Please note, not all shapes of glass are suitable to be set but you will be advised on this during the class - You can always e-mail me before the class if you have any questions!
Tea, Coffee and biscuits are provided but please bring along some lunch if attending a day class.

Silver Flowers with Jess
I’m excited to bring you this silver flower class! Learn how to make a flower necklace or ring using sheet silver.
I will teach you how to use a piercing saw to cut a template shape of a flower of your choice from sheet silver, you will then refine your piece with files and can use hammers to texture in your own way. Learn the very fun process of melting silver balls to decorate the centre of your flower before polishing and soldering to either a ring or creating jump rings for a necklace.
Tea, Coffee and biscuits are provided but please bring along some lunch if attending a day class.
All classes are an absolute maximum of 6 students, so there is lots of one-to-one support.

Intro to Quilting (Layering & Binding)
Come back for another day and learn how to put on the backing and binding to finish off your quilt. For this session you will need: 1.5m of 100% Cotton fabric (115 cm wide) in a colour that complements the quilted fabrics. You will also need a piece of another similar fabric from which you will cut 2 1/2" strips that you will join together to make a strip 155" in length for the binding.
(we will have a limited range available on the day for purchase)

Silver Stacking Rings with Jess
This is a complete beginners Silversmithing class, so no experience is needed. During the class I will teach you all about traditional silversmithing tools and how to use them correctly and safely.
You will work with wire, texturing and manipulating to create either your own set of stacking rings or a pair of earrings. As well as soldering and texturing you will learn to form rings which can then be cut and soldered to make earrings or kept as rings before finishing off with polishing techniques.
During the class you can make up to 4 silver ring or one pair of earrings.

4 week Coastal Silver Course with Jess
During this 4 week long course, you will learn the fun skills of melting and hammering scrap silver to make personalised silver pebbles, adding jump rings to make charms.
You will then go on to make a beautiful silver wave ring to size using wire. Learning ring sizing skills, how to anneal and shape wire, as well as soldering and texturing.
The final two weeks are your chance to make a pendant, ring or earrings using sea glass. You will make a bezel setting from start to finish and set your sea glass. If you finish early, you can make another piece or revisit making rings and pebbles.
Materials are included to make your pebble charms, one wave ring and a setting to make either a ring, pendant or earrings for a piece of sea glass up to 2cm. Calligraphy - Beginners Nib & Ink
A lovely introduction to calligraphy using a pointed pen and ink. Your tutor will demonstrate throughout the workshop so you can understand the technique required to create the thick and thin lines which are key to this beautiful craft. Using drills to get you started you will soon be writing letters and joining them to make words. We will give you advice on how changing the shape of your letters can change the whole dynamic of your calligraphy. Finally you will have the opportunity using templates to create your own piece of artwork using coloured inks and blending techniques. Taking you through the basic strokes and steps to develop your lettering skills slowly and concisely. Plenty of time to practice and get some 1:1 help from your tutor.
All equipment and materials are included, and you will receive a take away kit with a workbook, calligraphy pen, nib and bottle of ink. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to brush up on their skills.

Silver Bangle Class Ages 8-14
This is a wonderful opportunity for a child and their grown up to make matching silver bangles. A special treat, using traditional silversmithing techniques to heat, texture, stamp and shape a silver bangle which will last a life time.
The bangle will be made in an open style, so as the child grows, their bangle can be adjusted.
This is a complete beginners Silversmithing class, so no experience is needed. Due to the nature of the tools, including saws, blow torches and hammers, there must be one adult to each child to support and supervise at all times.
During the class you will make 1 5mm wide bangle each. The adult bangle will also be an open style.

Make, Do & Mend - 3 week Intro to Hand Sewing & Embroidery (12+)
A 3 week course covering hand sewing basics. Suitable for older children aged 12+ years who are keen to learn new skills.
Week 1: The basics!
Week 2: Embroidery, Beads & Buttons
Week 3: Project Week (Pin cushions, Stuffies or Cushions)

Silver Flowers with Jess
I’m excited to bring you this silver flower class! Learn how to make a flower necklace or ring using sheet silver.
I will teach you how to use a piercing saw to cut a template shape of a flower of your choice from sheet silver, you will then refine your piece with files and can use hammers to texture in your own way. Learn the very fun process of melting silver balls to decorate the centre of your flower before polishing and soldering to either a ring or creating jump rings for a necklace.
Tea, Coffee and biscuits are provided but please bring along some lunch if attending a day class.
All classes are an absolute maximum of 6 students, so there is lots of one-to-one support.

Mummy & Me - Crafternoon for Mothers Day!
🖌️☕ Mummy and Me Crafternoon Tea ☕🖌️
Spend an afternoon creating something truly special with your little one. In this workshop, you’ll create pressed flower handprints on a 5x7-inch acrylic block—a unique keepsake to cherish. Using beautiful pressed flowers and inkless printing, you’ll capture your child’s handprint(s) in a timeless design.
This session is suitable for children of all ages, with our demo piece showcasing the prints of a 4-year-old and a 3-month-old for size reference. While you craft, little ones can enjoy colouring activities to keep them entertained too.
After crafting, relax with a traditional cream tea, including freshly baked scones, jam, and clotted cream.

A great opportunity to learn the skill of setting a stone into silver to create a Flush or Gypsy style setting.
A step by step class, creating a setting completely from scratch.
Previous experience is beneficial for this class but not necessary. It is advised that you have been to at least one of my beginners classes or similar.
You can set your own stone or use one provided. If using your own stone, please contact me prior to the class to make sure it is suitable. You can make a pendant in this class.

Silver Clay Rings Workshop
Learn to make your own beautiful fine silver ring from ‘magical’ precious metal clay working with Kath from Silver Magpie. Using different tools and techniques to traditional silver smithing classes, silver clay is more gentle and mindful where you can explore textures and shapes to create a piece totally unique to you.
Silver clay is made from 100% recycled silver which, when fired, becomes 99.9% pure fine silver. This workshop is ideal for beginners and those who have used silver clay before.
