During this workshop with Lettering by the Sea you will be learning the art of calligraphy but with a modern twist. A lovely introduction to modern calligraphy using a brush pen. Bridgette will demonstrate throughout the workshop so you can understand the technique required to create the thick and thin lines which are key to this beautiful craft. Using drills to get you started you will soon be writing letters and joining them to make words. We will give you advice on how changing the shape of your letters can change the whole dynamic of your calligraphy. Finally, you will have the opportunity using templates to create your own piece of artwork using coloured inks and blending techniques. Taking you through the basic strokes and steps to develop your lettering skills slowly and concisely. Plenty of time to practice and get some 1:1 help from your tutor.

All equipment and materials are included, and you will receive a takeaway kit with a workbook and pen. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to brush up on their skills.

Beaded Spring flowers workshop

Learn how to work with flexible wire and seed beads to create beautiful snowdrops, crocuses or daffodils. Celebrate Spring and perhaps make some unique gifts in advance of Mother’s Day and Easter!

There will be the option of using the bead spinner, a fun gadget that speeds up the process of loading tiny beads onto wire.

Your flower heads can be mounted onto florist wire stems to create decorative everlasting floral displays. There will also be the option of mounting them onto brooch backs or hair clips.

The course is suitable for beginners. Learners will be provided all tools, materials, examples and instruction sheets.

Join Kath from Silver Magpie on this brand new, full-day silver clay jewellery workshop, building a stunning silver 3D bird house pendant, or why not create a beach hut if you prefer!

You will learn how to texture, shape and build your silver charm, then fire and polish it. This session is for anyone who has used silver clay before and is looking for a project that’s a little more challenging. Adults only for this particular session. Please wear filled-in shoes, no scarves or floaty sleeves and tie long hair back. You will need to bring a bottle of water and a lunch as the session won’t finish till 4pm. Tea and coffee is provided.

Make your own stylish hanger to show off your favourite plants! In a relaxed and friendly small group, you'll learn the five basic macramé knots that will enable you to easily continue this wonderful, mindful craft at home after the workshop. You'll make a super macramé plant hanger to take home, along with the printed knot guide and instructions. In addition you'll learn about different styles of macramé cord which can be used to achieve different effects in your future projects. Learn to make this on-trend macramé wall hanging. By popular request, I’m very pleased to offer my first handbag workshop. You’ll make an on-trend neutral macramé bag that’s perfect to pair with your spring and summer outfits. As bags are time-consuming to make, this is a long-form workshop, suitable for beginners and confident knotters alike. You’ll learn two of the foundation macramé knots, lark’s head and square knots, and the more advanced Chinese crown knot.

This workshop lasts around 5 hours and takes place at the lovely Makers’ House in Fareham. Materials are all included, along with a light snack to keep up your strength while you knot! We’ll begin seated but you can choose whether you wish to sit or stand for the rest of the workshop – or a mix of both. If you have any questions about accessibility please do get in touch. Places are limited to 8 on this workshop so that I can give everyone individual attention as needed and make sure you take home a piece of work that you’re proud of.
